The concentration you choose at Lane will affect what classes you can fit into your schedule over the years. This is because each curriculum requires you to meet extra prerequisites over your most basic ones.
For example, the Core curriculum. It is the most commonly taken concentration at Lane, as it does not place any additional graduation requirements on the student. Because of this, it allows for a lot of flexibility when choosing classes. A student under Core would only have the basic highschool graduation requirements:

However, if the student instead chose to take Computer Science as their curriculum, the requirements to graduate would change. By the end of this student's four years at lane, they would need to graduate with four CS credits instead of just one. The requirements to graduate with the CS concentration is shown below.

As long as you meet the most basic graduation requirements by the time you graduate, (as shown in the first table) you are allowed to graduate. But if you do not meet the requirements for your concentration, you will graduate without the concentration on your record.
